Student-led Conferences

Student-led conferences are a highlight of every year in a PYP school. They are a chance for students to guide their parents through some examples of what it’s like to be a student each day, by sharing some learning experiences together.

Take a look through the slides and add a comment as a reflection on your experience. Don’t forget to use the Comment Rubric on our blog’s Blogging page to help be sure you’re a comment ninja!

  1. As a teacher, I always really love Student-led conferences. First of all, I love watching students take control and confidently, proudly, guide their parents through a bunch of shared learning experiences. There are moments (and there were some today), when I get to see both parents and students share exciting moments of understanding or discovery that are really special. Of course, it’s also interesting for me, as someone who spends so much time with the students, to see them interacting with their families. Today was a real pleasure. Thanks to everyone involved! I wish we could do this sort of thing several times per year.
    Warm regards, Jamie

  2. It was a true celebration of learning. Great that the students were in charge. We were impressed, not only by our son (who was looking forward to the conferences for days), but also by the classroom, a showcase of learning and interaction. Many thanks for posting the pictures.
