Camping Club

The YIS Elementary Camping Club is a club designed to give students an opportunity to experience camping and the great outdoors in a safe, supervised environment. Students will have a chance to be independent, self sufficient, work as part of a team and develop an appreciation for nature.

Students will have weekly skill-building sessions, working towards overnight camps at suitable camp sites.  Students will be expected to attend all training sessions leading up to an overnight camp, in order to take part in the actual camping trip.  This is so that we can ensure that the students are properly prepared.

This after school activity will require parents to support their children by providing camping equipment such as sleeping bags and suitable clothes, including effective rain wear. All other equipment (tents, stoves, back-packs etc.) will be provided by YIS.

Parents will also be expected to support their children by helping them purchase the food on their menu plans and checking their packing lists.

There will be a charge for this activity to cover the cost of the camping sites, transport, equipment etc.  The charge will vary from trip to trip, depending on the length of the trip and the costs involved.

For safety reasons, the club can accept a maximum of 16 students.

The adults who are leading this after-school activity are:
