Packing List
Campers will have two bags for each overnight trip, a DAY PACK and a LARGE PACK.
It is essential that items on the Day Pack list are packed in each student’s small Day Pack, while items listed under Large Pack are packed in the large school-provided pack. Anything packed in the wrong bag will have to be transferred and re-packed by the students before we depart on the trip.
Day Pack
seven essentials:
- water (0.5 litre)
- emergency rations, high in energy (eg dried fruit, granola bar, chocolate bar)
- waterproof jacket and trousers (MUST be water-proof in heavy rain. Try Don Quixote for cheap waterproofs)
- extra warm layer (eg. fleece)
- pencil and paper
- first aid kit (band aids, 1 bandage, 1 sterile dressing, antiseptic wet wipes)
- sun hat
- bug spray
optional:
- whistle
- pocket knife (must be approved by camping club supervisor)
- torch/ flash-light/head-lamp
- hand sanitizer
- sun cream
Large Pack
Students should provide:
- Warm layer to wear under clothes and for sleeping in (eg thermal underwear or warm tights and t-shirt)
- Extra underwear and socks
- Extra pair of trousers (NOT jeans)
- Extra warm layer for upper body
- Toiletries (eg: toothbrush, toothpaste, wet wipes, toilet paper)
- Sleeping bag (must be proper camping sleeping bag, specified for the temperatures we will be experiencing)
- *Food (afternoon snack, supper, breakfast)
- dishes and cutlery
optional
- book to read
- card game (eg uno, trumps, no electronic games)
Mobile phones are not recommended. We would like the children to exerience being self sufficient and ‘unconnected’ for 24 hours. In case of an emergency, you can contact your child on one of the teachers’ phones.
NB Please keep trash and weight to a minimum by removing any unnecessary packaging. Students will be required to carry home all garbage.

Students should wear:
- Loose, comfortable trousers (NOT jeans)
- Comfortable shoes or trainers suitable for hiking
- A tee-shirt or long-sleeved top
- A fleece or similar top for warmth
School will provide:
- Large back pack
- Tent
- Sleeping mat
- Cooking equipment (Trangia)
