On Wednesday morning, during our regular 2R Book Club time, students will be retelling the story of their choice, in the first person, from the point of view of a character that they choose.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you choose T<strong>he Tortoise and the Hare<\/strong>, you could tell the story as either the Tortoise or the Hare.<\/li>\n<li>If you choose<strong> A Lesson for Foolish Crow<\/strong>, you could tell the story as either the Fox or the Crow.<\/li>\n<li>If you choose<strong> The Lion and the Mouse<\/strong>, you could tell the story as either the Lion of the Mouse.<\/li>\n<li>If you choose <strong>The Fox and His Shadow<\/strong>, you could tell the story as the Fox.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Click <a title=\"Video Fables\" href=\"http:\/\/us.penguingroup.com\/static\/packages\/us\/yreaders\/aesop\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> to watch the videos and decide!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_845\" style=\"width: 425px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/us.penguingroup.com\/static\/packages\/us\/yreaders\/aesop\/index.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-845\" class=\"size-full wp-image-845 \" title=\"Fables\" src=\"http:\/\/files.campus.edublogs.org\/blogs.yis.ac.jp\/dist\/f\/430\/files\/2012\/02\/Screen-Shot-2012-02-20-at-6.10.07-PM-w70xy0.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"415\" height=\"359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iamjamie.me\/yis2r\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Screen-Shot-2012-02-20-at-6.10.07-PM-w70xy0.png 415w, https:\/\/iamjamie.me\/yis2r\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Screen-Shot-2012-02-20-at-6.10.07-PM-w70xy0-300x259.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 415px) 100vw, 415px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-845\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Watch the videos and choose a fable to retell!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example of one of the stories,\u00a0 The Fox and His Shadow, retold in the first person, from the point of view of the Fox:<\/p>\n<p><em>One day, at sunset, I decided to go for a walk. <\/em><br \/>\n<em>The low sun sent long shadows across the sand.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Suddenly, I stopped in surprise! <\/em><br \/>\n<em>I had noticed my own shadow. I had never realized how huge I was!<\/em><br \/>\n<em>It made me think, I&#8217;m so big, why should I be afraid of other animals? <\/em><br \/>\n<em>I&#8217;m even bigger and scarier than a lion! I should be the king of the animals!<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Wow. What a foolish mistake that was.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>While I was standing there thinking about it, I almost didn&#8217;t notice the even huger shadow rising up behind me. Just in time I felt the Lion&#8217;s breath on my back and ran! I heard his jaws snap shut, but he had just missed me. I ran and ran across the desert as the sun set. Eventually, the lion gave up on the chase. It was a lucky break for me to escape. But oh what a foolish fox I was to imagine I was as big as my shadow that day.
